Week 6

Week 6
Very interesting. However could have somewhat limited use in our library. I think the Mosman Library videos are great and show the opinions of various groups with different needs as library clients. Libraries need to meet all  these these requirements and move ahead as well in order to stay relevant.
There could be a possibility of using videos in a teaching and possibly a training situation however with the equipment needed. In a small library we could not do this.
Use in preserving town and family history would be an excellent use of this resource as seen on the lesson.
Showcasing local History and blogging about discoveries are further ways to take up this technology as well as promoting our library and events.

Week 5 Wikis
Visited 3 sites: SJCP: Subject Guides. Booklovers Wikki and Mint Museum. Wikki would be useful to promote collections, events and to communicate. Great to check on book reviews or publish them as well as a way to circulate current Library news.
I would like to see Wiki's used between library staff in our Regional Library Branches.  A great way to assist in  the organisation of childrens programs where Branches are using the same theme can share ideas. Likewise brainstorming ideas between Branches and managers.

Week4 RSS

Week 4 shows how to easily access many blogs on topics of interest from one site. I was able to access 6 blog sites easily..which are now posting regular updates. I like the ease of accessing all the daily things I look up regularly.. they are now coming to me instead of my having to look for them.
Sites used: ABC News. Public Library Services.Powerhouse Museum. SM Herald.TV Guide. Library Bytes. Weather.
In a work situation many newsletters and daily up-dates between Branches (in our case) could come to me at one site. Libraries can take advantage of this technology by setting up "feeds"  and regularly up-date to pass information throughout the library "family" as is already being done in many cases.
Looking into the alia. blog and National LibraryBlogs which are well worth looking at as examples.
